The minoxidil price in Bangladesh runs from ৳770 to ৳10,150 at Orpa today, and the cheapest bottle and the most expensive one contain the same drug. A 60 ml bottle is roughly a month’s supply at the standard dose, so the practical range is ৳770 to ৳3,400 a month depending on whether you buy an Indian brand or a US import.
Minoxidil is the only topical treatment with strong evidence for pattern hair loss, and it is also the one people most often give up on too early. This guide compares what is in stock by strength and cost per month, explains 2% against 5% against 10%, and is specific about what it cannot do.

2% or 5%: which strength should you use
For men with pattern baldness, 5% is the standard and it outperforms 2% in the trials that compared them. There is no good reason for a man to start at 2% unless his scalp cannot tolerate the stronger solution.
For women, 2% applied twice daily is the long-established option, and it is what both women’s products on this page contain. Higher strengths are used in women under medical supervision, partly because of the risk of unwanted facial hair growth. That is a conversation for a doctor, not a product page.
The cheapest route for a man is Tinfal Minoxidil 5% at ৳770, and the cheapest for a woman is Mintop 2% at ৳990. The imported equivalents cost two to four times more for the same active ingredient: Men’s Rogaine 5% is ৳3,320 a month, while Amazon Basic Care 5% at ৳9,999 for six months works out at about ৳1,667.
What about 10%?
Orpa stocks several 10% solutions, and they are popular, so it is worth being straight about them. Ten percent is not an approved strength anywhere, the evidence that it beats 5% is thin, and the rate of scalp irritation, itching and flaking goes up with concentration. More is not proportionally better with this drug.
If 5% has genuinely stopped working for you, that is a reason to see a dermatologist rather than to double the concentration on your own. The middle of the range, Morr F 5% at ৳1,590 or Mintop 5% at ৳2,190, is where most people settle.
The solutions that also contain finasteride
Several products here combine minoxidil with finasteride: the Morr F, Brintop F and Tinfal F lines. Finasteride blocks DHT, the hormone behind pattern baldness, and it works on a different mechanism from minoxidil.
Three things to know before buying one:
- Finasteride is a prescription medicine in most countries. Topical versions have far less published evidence than the oral tablet, and side effects are still possible.
- Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must not handle it. Finasteride can cause birth defects, and the warning covers handling broken tablets and, sensibly, topical solutions too.
- It is not a starter product. Plain minoxidil first, under medical advice, and add anything else through a doctor.
Orpa also lists an oral biotin and finasteride tablet. Oral finasteride in particular should only be taken on a prescription after a proper conversation about side effects.
How to use minoxidil so it actually works
- Dose: 1 ml, twice a day, on a dry scalp, spread over the thinning area rather than concentrated on one spot.
- Let it dry for two to four hours before washing, sweating heavily or going to bed.
- Expect shedding in weeks two to eight. Hairs in the resting phase are pushed out as new ones start. It looks like the treatment is making things worse; it is the opposite.
- Judge at four to six months, not before. Nothing visible happens in the first two.
- It is permanent maintenance. Stop, and within three to six months you lose what you regrew. Factor the monthly cost into the decision before you start.
- It works best early, on thinning rather than on scalp that has been bald for years, where there is no follicle left to revive.
Side effects worth knowing about
The common ones are local: itching, dryness, flaking and irritation, often from the propylene glycol in solution formulas rather than the drug itself. Unwanted hair growth on the face can happen if the solution runs or transfers, which is why women are told to be careful with application and pillowcases.
Rarely, minoxidil causes dizziness, swelling in the ankles, a racing heartbeat or chest discomfort. Those are reasons to stop and see a doctor promptly. It is also not appropriate if you have a heart condition, without medical advice.
What to pair it with, and what not to bother with
- Derma roller — DRS Derma Roller 0.5 mm at ৳190. Microneedling once a week has modest supporting evidence alongside minoxidil. Do not apply minoxidil straight after rolling; leave it until the next day, because fresh channels increase absorption and irritation.
- A DHT-blocking shampoo — Minox Shampoo with Procapil at ৳1,190 is a reasonable supporting product, not a treatment on its own.
- Biotin — Nature’s Bounty Biotin 10000 mcg at ৳1,590 helps if you are deficient. If you are not, it does nothing for hair, and deficiency is uncommon on a normal diet.
- Rosemary oil — Mamaearth Rosemary Hair Growth Oil at ৳690. One small trial found it comparable to 2% minoxidil over six months. The study is limited and it is not a replacement for treatment, but it is cheap and low risk.
- Onion and herbal oils — pleasant, widely sold, and not treatments for pattern baldness. Buy them for scalp condition, not regrowth.
Is hair loss always pattern baldness?
No, and this matters before you spend money. Sudden diffuse shedding a few months after illness, surgery, childbirth or severe stress is usually telogen effluvium, which recovers on its own. Patchy round bald spots suggest alopecia areata. Iron deficiency, thyroid problems and some medicines also cause hair loss, and they need treating at the source.
Minoxidil treats androgenetic alopecia, the gradual receding hairline and thinning crown. If your pattern does not look like that, get a diagnosis before starting a lifelong product.
Frequently asked questions
What is the price of minoxidil in Bangladesh?
At Orpa today, from ৳770 for Tinfal 5% 60 ml to ৳10,150 for a three-month supply of Women’s Rogaine. A month of treatment costs ৳770 to ৳3,400 depending on brand.
Is minoxidil 5% or 2% better?
For men, 5% works better and is the standard. For women, 2% twice daily is the established option, with higher strengths used only under medical supervision.
How long before minoxidil shows results?
Four to six months for a fair judgement. Shedding in the first two months is normal and expected.
What happens if I stop using minoxidil?
The hair you kept or regrew because of it is usually lost within three to six months. It is ongoing maintenance, not a course of treatment.
Can women use minoxidil?
Yes, at 2%, and both women’s products here are that strength. Women should avoid the finasteride combination solutions entirely, and anyone pregnant or planning pregnancy should not handle finasteride at all.
Is 10% minoxidil safe?
It is not an approved strength and irritation increases with concentration, without clear evidence of better regrowth than 5%. If 5% is not working, see a dermatologist.
Does minoxidil work on a receding hairline?
It is better studied on the crown, and results at the temples are less reliable. It does nothing on scalp that has been completely bald for years.
Are these products original?
Yes. Orpa imports them in sealed manufacturer packaging with the original label and batch code intact. Delivery is ৳70 inside Dhaka City in 1 to 3 days and ৳120 elsewhere in Bangladesh in 2 to 4 days, with cash on delivery nationwide.
This guide is general information about products Orpa sells, not medical advice. Minoxidil and finasteride are medicines with real side effects, and finasteride is prescription-only in most countries. Speak to a doctor or dermatologist before starting treatment, particularly if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, have a heart condition, or your hair loss came on suddenly.
