Which needle length should I buy?
Start at 0.25 mm for better serum absorption with no downtime, or 0.5 mm for pores, fine lines and shallow acne marks. Do not start above 0.5 mm.
Is a 1.5 mm or 2 mm derma roller safe for the face?
Not at home. Those lengths go through the full dermis and are used clinically on body skin, usually with anaesthetic and sterile technique. On the face they risk scarring, pigmentation and infection without working better than 0.5 mm.
How do I clean a derma roller?
Soak the head in 70% isopropyl alcohol for five to ten minutes before and after every use, and let it air dry. Never share a roller with anyone.
How often should I use a derma roller?
0.25 to 0.3 mm once or twice a week, 0.5 mm weekly at most, 0.75 to 1.0 mm every two to three weeks, and 1.5 mm or longer monthly at most.
Can I apply minoxidil straight after derma rolling?
No. Fresh channels sharply increase how much is absorbed and how much it irritates. Wait at least 24 hours before the next minoxidil application.
How long does a derma roller last?
Roughly 10 to 15 sessions for steel needles and longer for titanium. Replace it on a count rather than on how it looks, because blunting is invisible.
