Micro Glyco 6 Glycolic Acid Cream 6% (30g)

What it is

Micro Glyco 6 is a 6% glycolic acid cream from Micro Labs Ltd. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), the smallest of the group, which is why it is the one most often used to loosen the bond between dead cells sitting on the surface of the skin. As those cells shed more easily, skin tends to look smoother and more even.

Who it suits

People dealing with rough or uneven texture, dull looking skin, leftover marks from old breakouts, or patchy pigmentation. It comes in a 30g tube and is meant for use on the face, on clean and intact skin.

How to use it

1. Cleanse and dry the skin properly first.
2. Apply a thin layer to the affected area once a day, at night, or as directed by your dermatologist.
3. Wear sunscreen every morning while you are using it. Glycolic acid makes skin more sensitive to sunlight, so skipping sunscreen can undo the results and cause further darkening.
4. Keep it away from the eyes, lips and any broken or irritated skin.

Before you start

Start slowly. Two or three nights a week is enough at first, building up only if your skin stays comfortable. Mild tingling on application is common with AHAs; burning, lasting redness or peeling is not, and means you should stop.

Avoid layering it with retinoids or other strong exfoliating acids unless a dermatologist has told you to. If you have active eczema, rosacea, or a damaged skin barrier, speak to a dermatologist before using it. It is not intended for use during pregnancy without medical advice.
